Softball Recap: Penncrest Comes Up Short

Penncrest extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 12-2 to the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Fightin' Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Julia Weber made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Marple Newtown, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.3 runs this season.

On Marple Newtown's side, Kirsten Adams was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Adams has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Siena Adams, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Penncrest will take on Chichester at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Marple Newtown, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Strath Haven at 3:45 p.m. on April 7.
