The Chattahoochee Cougars's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Lumpkin County Indians at 4:00 p.m. on December 21st. Lumpkin County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Chattahoochee, who comes in off a win.
Even though Chattahoochee has not done well against Johns Creek recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Chattahoochee secured a 48-43 W over Johns Creek. Given Chattahoochee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Johns Creek is ranked 464th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riley Berninger continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Chattahoochee's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Loren Withrite, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Lumpkin County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 47-35 to Commerce.
Chattahoochee is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Lumpkin County, they bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
