Basketball Recap: Wallace-Rose Hill Falls Despite Big Games from Sophie Sloan and Nevaeh Dobson

Wallace-Rose Hill and East Duplin squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Wallace-Rose Hill had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 49-31 to the East Duplin Panthers. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Wallace-Rose Hill's loss came despite strong showings from Nevaeh Dobson and Sophie Sloan. Dobson posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks, while Sloan put up six points. That was a full 45.2% of Wallace-Rose Hill's points, marking the third time in a row Dobson has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Jamyah Pickett continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Duplin, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. Pickett is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Cave, who earned 13 points and five steals.

Wallace-Rose Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for East Duplin, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 23-2.

Wallace-Rose Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Duplin, they will host Southwest Onslow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Duplin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
