Basketball Recap: West Point Takes a Loss

West Point was the 42-23 winner over Surry County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The West Point Pointers were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 65-64 to the Surry County Cougars. The Pointers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Point's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Surry County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-16 record this season.

West Point won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Middlesex at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Point knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Middlesex likes a good challenge. As for Surry County, they and Brunswick will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played.
