Soccer Game Preview: Perry vs. New Hampstead

The Perry Panthers will head out to square off against the New Hampstead Phoenix at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Perry has three straight wins, New Hampstead has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Perry's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Wayne County. Considering the Panthers have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for New Hampstead's offense. They came up short against Warner Robins on Tuesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Demons are ranked 118th).

Perry's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for New Hampstead, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything went Perry's way against New Hampstead when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Perry made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
