Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Jefferson

Jefferson's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They didn't even let the Hedgesville Eagles on the board, marking the Cougars' second-straight 14-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Chloe Cowan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jersey Rummel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Jefferson's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hedgesville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10-1.

Coming up, Jefferson will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Spring Mills at 7:00 p.m. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Hedgesville, they will head out on the road to face off against Berkeley Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
