Softball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Westview Wildcats

Sunset hasn't had much luck against Westview recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Apollos will welcome the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Sunset will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Friday, Sunset needed a bit of extra time to put away Mountainside. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Mavericks.

Sunset got a big performance out of Claire Townsend, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Townsend has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jordan Pe?a, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Westview got the win against Beaverton on Monday by a conclusive 11-5. Considering the Wildcats have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sunset's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Westview, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Sunset couldn't quite finish off Westview when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Apollos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
