Softball Recap: Crystal River Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Crystal River owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Springstead Eagles. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Violet Flynn, who gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Springstead off the board. Flynn has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Crystal River saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Athena Childs, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Crystal River's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Springstead, they moved to 12-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Crystal River has already played their next game, an 8-1 win against Hudson on the 16th. As for Springstead, they will face off against Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
