Volleyball Recap: Ellie Tatman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Teays Valley over Hilliard Darby

After flying high against Lancaster on Thursday, Teays Valley came back down to earth. The Vikings lost 3-0 to the Hilliard Darby Panthers on Monday. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Teays Valley took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 28-26.

Teays Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Tatman, who had 15 digs and two aces. Tatman is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Kennedy, who had six digs and five aces.

With the defeat, Teays Valley broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Hilliard Darby, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Teays Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Reynoldsburg on the 23rd. As for Hilliard Darby, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Marysville on the 23rd.
