Baseball Recap: Newton Eagles vs. Diboll Lumberjacks
Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Diboll Lumberjacks, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lumberjacks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in March.
Newton's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Diboll, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newton is set to challenge their familiar foe Pollok Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Diboll will take on rival Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lumberjacks 3.6, the Red Devils 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
