Basketball Recap: BigTyme Prep Academy Comes Up Short

BigTyme Prep Academy was the 68-65 winner over R.W. Goines Stem Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The BigTyme Prep Academy Bears took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of R.W. Goines Stem Academy on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly eight points.

Despite the loss, BigTyme Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Njoroge Nganga, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Nganga a new career-high in points. Zvon King was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Bryceson Melvin was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 on his way to 29 points along with five assists and five boards for R.W. Goines Stem Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Melvin has scored at least a third of R.W. Goines Stem Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Zayd Taylor, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

BigTyme Prep Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for R.W. Goines Stem Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

BigTyme Prep Academy has already played their next contest, an 80-71 loss against Pace Academy on the 11th. As for R.W. Goines Stem Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-51 defeat against Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes on the 11th.
