Baseball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

Canton came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-5 to the Wellsboro Hornets. Surprisingly, this marked the Warriors' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Zach Colton and Bailey Gardner did some serious damage despite the final result: Colton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Gardner went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Wellsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will welcome Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wellsboro, they will challenge Wyalusing Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
