Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Mississinewa

Mississinewa proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted against the Tigers since April 21, 2016.

Brooklynn Nash was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Amiyaa Parr-Inman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaeli Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Mississinewa, bringing their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mississinewa will challenge rival Madison-Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Alexandria-Monroe is set to face off against their familiar foe Frankton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 1.8, the Eagles 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
