Recap: Glenn Hills Spartans vs. Thomson Bulldogs
The Glenn Hills Spartans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Thomson 62-8. Glenn Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-0.
Caymon Edgar threw for 93 yards and a touchdown. Jakobi Jones was his top target, picking up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Trever Sims rushed for 34 yards.
Thomson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan(JRock) Lane led the charge by picking up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Jamarion Barnes was in the mix as well, providing Thomson with two touchdowns.
Glenn Hills' loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Laney and 6-3 Washington-Wilkes (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62% over those games). As for Thomson, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Glenn Hills will look to defend their home field on Friday against Laney at 7:30 p.m. Laney presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Glenn Hills in Georgia (Laney is ranked 180th, while Glenn Hills is ranked 435th). As for Thomson, they will head out on the road to face off against Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
