Soccer Game Preview: Walton-Verona vs. Holy Cross

Walton-Verona is 0-3 against Holy Cross since September of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bearcats will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Walton-Verona is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Carroll County. The Bearcats never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Monday. Walton-Verona haven't had any issues with Carroll County recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross fell victim to St. Henry and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. Holy Cross have struggled against St. Henry recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Walton-Verona suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Holy Cross when the teams last played back in August of 2023. Can the Bearcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
