Baseball Recap: Riverside Drops Highest Score of Season Against Liberty Tech Magnet

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Liberty Tech Magnet Crusaders on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Peyton Kirk made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Riverside is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Kirk was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Riverside got a massive performance out of Cody Brasher, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Brasher has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cole Yarbro, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Riverside's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8. As for Liberty Tech Magnet, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Riverside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Crusaders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
