Football Recap: Ridgevue Piles Up the Points Against Wood River + How To Watch

Ridgevue won the last time they faced Wood River and things went their way on Friday too. The Warhawks blew past the Wolverines 53-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warhawks.

Jarom Walker went supernova, rushing for 126 yards and two TDs on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Hunter Schmittel, who threw for 177 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cameron Johnson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ridgevue's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Kai Dowining and Braden Wagoner, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Ridgevue's record is now 2-0. As for Wood River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Ridgevue will square off against Emmett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 900 yards in their previous games. As for Wood River, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Filer at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
