Basketball Recap: Leesville Road Comes Up Short

Leesville Road was the 71-68 winner over Cardinal Gibbons when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the Leesville Road Pride and the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders didn't end well, with the Leesville Road Pride falling 85-68. While the Pride didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Crusaders 19-15 in the first quarter.

Cash McSweeney was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Cardinal Gibbons. McSweeney is becoming a predictor of Cardinal Gibbons' success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 11-4 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Will Migdal was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Leesville Road's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leesville Road will host Enloe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leesville Road knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Enloe likes a good challenge. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sanderson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sanderson will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Cardinal Gibbons surely won't give up without a fight.
