Baseball Recap: Fort Wayne South Side Extends Winning Streak to Four

Fort Wayne South Side extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 6-8 in the process. They skirted past the Fort Wayne Wayne Generals 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Archers have posted since May 18, 2024.

Drew Pancake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, David Sandoval was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Donovan French was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

On Fort Wayne Wayne's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Murillo, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
