Saranac had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They really took it to the Saranac Lake Red Storm for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-32 victory. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 24-point advantage.

When it comes to explaining why Saranac Lake lost, don't look at Emma Akey. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. That was a full 65.6% of the Red Storm's points, marking the third time in a row Akey has scored more than a third of the team's points. Ashlyn Tomaszewski was another key player, putting up seven points.

Saranac Lake now has a losing record of 1-2.
