Basketball Recap: Lewis Central Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lewis Central entered their match against Bellevue East on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lewis Central Titans lost to the Bellevue East Chieftains at home by a 70-55 margin.

Trey Tolbert had a dynamite game for Bellevue East, going 7 for 8 on his way to 16 points and six assists. Those six assists gave Tolbert a new career-high. Kris Brown was another key player, going 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Lewis Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3. As for Bellevue East, they moved to 1-4 with that victory, which also ended their 21-game losing streak.

Lewis Central will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Glenwood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Bellevue East, they will be taking part in a tournament against Omaha South at 1:45 p.m. on Friday. Bellevue East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.
