Baseball Game Preview: Vandalia Vandals vs. Wesclin Warriors

The Vandalia Vandals will face off against the Wesclin Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Vandalia blew Carlinville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Carlinville got their revenge. The Vandals fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 8-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Andrew Casey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Drew Jones was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Wesclin fell victim to Red Bud and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Musketeers, falling 7-0. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Musketeers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Wesclin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Wesclin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Vandalia, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
