Football Game Preview: Pius X Thunderbolts vs. Elkhorn North Wolves

Pius X is 0-3 against Elkhorn North since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Thunderbolts will take on the Wolves at 8:00 p.m.

Pius X is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Waverly on Friday. The Thunderbolts took a 22-7 bruising from the Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbolts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Vikings are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Elkhorn North hadn't done well against Bennington recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Badgers 29-27.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Ethan Beachy and Ty Bouaphakeo. Beachy had a great game and rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Bouaphakeo was balling out in the loss, throwing for 294 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 77 yards.

Pius X now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Elkhorn North, their record is now 7-2.

Pius X was taken down by Elkhorn North 46-0 in their previous meeting back in August. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beachy, who threw for 219 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 34 yards. Now that the Thunderbolts know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
