Football Recap: Eldred Finds Playoff Glory Versus Unatego/Franklin

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Eldred walked away with it. They breezed past Unatego/Franklin to the tune of 56-22 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Koen McGill had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 257 yards and three TDs. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making nine total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Connor Ranaudo was in the mix as well, providing Eldred with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eldred was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Eldred didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as McGill, Ranaudo, and James Deyermond picked up one apiece. McGill is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Eldred's record is now 10-2. As for Unatego/Franklin, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

Coming up, Eldred will face off against Morrisville-Eaton at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten matchups. Unatego/Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
