McKeel Academy posted their closest victory since April 8, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts, sneaking past 5-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

J.C. Diaz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he also gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, McKeel Academy's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Thomas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory got McKeel Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy will venture away from home to square off against Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they are taking a road trip to challenge Fort Meade at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
