Palmetto Ridge had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 63-0 loss at the hands of the Gulf Coast Sharks. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 559th, while the Sharks are ranked 223rd).

Cooper Hall threw for 61 yards on five of 12 attempts. Devon Messenger was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards.

As for Gulf Coast, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. Considering they have won three contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marenco rushed for 176 yards and three scores on only six carries while Altine rushed for 191 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Marenco a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Garcia, who gained 37 total yards and two touchdowns.

Palmetto Ridge will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Immokalee at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. As for Gulf Coast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Barron Collier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sharks will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
