Basketball Recap: Torrey Harris and Jiyoun Williams Secure Win for Northampton County

Northampton County entered their tilt with Warren County on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Warren County Eagles by a score of 51-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jaguars also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Northampton County was led to victory by Jiyoun Williams and Torrey Harris. Williams went 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Harris went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points. The contest was Harris' fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the defeat, Warren County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kamari Nicholson almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nicholson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalil Townsend, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Northampton County pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Warren County, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-5.

Northampton County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-61 win against Southeast Halifax on the 7th. As for Warren County, they will venture away from home to take on Wilson Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
