Softball Recap: Bingham Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

It's playoff time, and Bingham had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Mountain Ridge Sentinels with a sharp 17-0 win on Wednesday. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Brecka Larson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shyann Banasky, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kava Haiola, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Bingham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Ridge only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory (which was Bingham's eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 24-6.

As of now, neither Bingham nor the Sentinels have any future games scheduled.
