After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lindale, Athens was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Kemp Yellowjackets. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won four in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Athens took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-14.

Their offense was headlined by Brooklyn Lunceford and Layla Carnes, who picked up five kills apiece. They were helped by Leah Hall and Chloe Coker, who contributed eight assists each. Carnes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Athens' victory bumped their record up to 15-20. As for Kemp, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-26.
