Baseball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Wins Going Away Against Ironwood

Sunrise Mountain had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Ironwood on Tuesday. The Mustangs blew past the Eagles 13-0. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.

Bryce Madison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Chase Heid was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Newkirk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double.

Sunrise Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ironwood only posted an OBP of .118.

Sunrise Mountain's record is now 15-9. As for Ironwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Sunrise Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-1 defeat against Desert Ridge on the 16th. Hopefully Ironwood paid attention to the Mustangs' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
