Basketball Recap: Irving Comes Up Short

Irving suffered their closest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the Nimitz Vikings by a score of 48-45. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 65-64.

Irving has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Nimitz, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9.

Irving and Nimitz could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Irving (ranked 715th) will meet Berkner (ranked 186th) at 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Nimitz will square off against Pearce at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025 down 1,049 places (1115 vs. 66).
