League recap: Bennett dominating on the mound for West Ranch

Foothill league recap: 3/27/13

West Ranch's Cody Bennett was the best pitcher in Foothill this week. He won one game and struck out nine batters.

First place in the standings of the league is up for grabs this week, as Canyon sits tied atop the standings with Valencia.

Saugus put four runners on via walks this week, fewest in the league, but the Vikings' staff still boasts the league's best control, having issued only 11 bases on balls over 72 total innings.

There were nine hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Jake Spurlin, who hit .750 by going 6-for-8.

Dylan Freyre, Chad Bible, Hunter Holland, A.j. Balta and Anthony Lepre hit home runs this week.



The Wildcats' Bennett struck out nine Hart hitters en route to a 3-2 victory on March 22. Over seven innings of work, he gave up three hits and two runs.

Balta drove in four runners as Valencia defeated the Indians 14-1 on Wednesday. He went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
