Softball Preview: Page Sand Devils vs. Chinle Wildcats

On Friday, Page got the win against Window Rock by a conclusive 16-1. The victory continues a trend for the Sand Devils in their matchups with the Fighting Scouts: they've now won nine in a row.
Sophi Tallsalt made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Page got a massive performance out of Traidyn Sutherland, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sutherland is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Leah Bigthumb, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Page was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .680. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chinle came up short against Ganado on Wednesday and fell 9-4.
Page pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.7 runs over those games. As for Chinle, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-6.
