Basketball Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Harvard Hornets

Genoa-Kingston is on a four-game streak of home losses, Harvard a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Thursday. The Genoa-Kingston Cogs will welcome the Harvard Hornets at 7:00 p.m.

Genoa-Kingston fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Dixon on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 65-54 to the Dukes & Duchesses. While losing is never fun, the Cogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Dukes & Duchesses are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, Harvard hadn't done well against Marengo recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Harvard came out on top against Marengo by a score of 56-48.

Genoa-Kingston's loss dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Harvard, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18.

Genoa-Kingston strolled past Harvard in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 53-36. Will Genoa-Kingston repeat their success, or does Harvard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
