Volleyball Recap: Douglas County Huskies vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles
Douglas County entered their match against Mountain Vista on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Huskies lost 3-0 to the Golden Eagles. The shutout was out of character for the Huskies seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
While Douglas County was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-22, 25-21.
Charlie Worcester paced Douglas County's offense, picking up six kills. Worcester got some help from Blake Allen and his 19 assists. Cole Valley controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Douglas County's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-2. As for Mountain Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Douglas County and Mountain Vista should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Huskies (ranked fifth) will meet Legend (ranked 25th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mountain Vista will face off against ThunderRidge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (4 vs. 29).
