Baseball Recap: Forest Area Comes Up Short

Forest Area extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 0-10. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pellston Hornets. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Pellston, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 3-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Pellston's part, Issac Groff was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Groff posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Brandt, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forest Area will welcome Suttons Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pellston, they will be playing at home against Bellaire at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.71 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
