Volleyball Recap: Donovan Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Piper Michl and Bailey Henneike

Donovan lost against DeLand-Weldon back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bailey Henneike and Piper Michl certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Henneike had 16 digs, while Michl had seven digs and four aces. Henneike is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

DeLand-Weldon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison Roos, who had four digs, four aces, and two blocks. That's the most blocks Roos has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Woods, who had ten kills and five digs.

Donovan's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for DeLand-Weldon, their record is now 11-15.

Donovan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Calvary Christian Academy on the 4th. As for DeLand-Weldon, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Arthur-Okaw Christian on the 6th.
