Niceville won the last time they faced Godby and Jakobe Gilyard did his part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles strolled past the Cougars with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 17-0 thanks in part to Gilyard, who rushed for 195 yards, and also picked up 49 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 101.7 rushing yards per game.

Niceville's defense made their presence known, laying out Landon Dougherty three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Noah Renes and Simon Smith, who each picked up one sack apiece. Renes was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory made it two in a row for Niceville and bumps their season record up to 4-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.6 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.46 in the others. As for Godby, they moved to 3-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niceville will host Mosley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Gilyard and Samuel Chisolm. As for Godby, they will face off against Wakulla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
