Baseball Recap: Marist Extends Winning Streak to Four

Marist waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Benet Academy Redwings 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on Monday.

Marist got a great performance from Aidan Flinn as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Flinn has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joey Gumuls, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Marist's record is now 9-7. As for Benet Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

Looking ahead, Marist will face off against Providence Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Celtics will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Benet Academy, they will square off against York at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
