Recap: West Rusk Raiders vs. Quitman Bulldogs
The West Rusk Raiders entered their tilt with the Quitman Bulldogs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. West Rusk claimed a resounding 48-7 victory over Quitman at home. Considering West Rusk has won five contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Xander Mason was on fire: he rushed for 66 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 224 yards and a touchdown on only 19 passes. Another player making a difference was Ty Harper, who gained 99 total yards and a touchdown.
West Rusk's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.4 points per game. As for Quitman, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
West Rusk will head out on the road to face off against Edgewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 665th, while West Rusk is ranked 329th). As for Quitman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winona at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Winona is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
