Baseball Recap: Edmonds-Woodway Beats Arlington for Their Third Straight Victory

Edmonds-Woodway took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Arlington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Isak Haverlock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Edmonds-Woodway saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevelyan Podawiltz, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Podawiltz has posted since back in March.

Edmonds-Woodway pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Edmonds-Woodway will square off against Lynnwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.59 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arlington, they will face off against Snohomish at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
