Recap: Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees vs. Sayre Spartans
The Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 46-21 loss at the hands of Sayre. Bethlehem was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.
Sayre can attribute much of their success to Luke Pennington, who threw for 227 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Brock Coffman also helped out with an impressive 115 receiving yards.
Bethlehem's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Campbellsville and 12-2 Christian Academy-Louisville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 87.3% over those games). As for Sayre, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Bethlehem will head out on the road to face off against Caverna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sayre, they have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Fairview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Sayre is ranked 81st).
