Miami Trace hasn't had much luck against Sheridan recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Generals at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Miami Trace can't be too worried about heading out to take on Sheridan: they just beat Unioto at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Panthers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Shermans on Thursday.
Miami Trace had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.
Miami Trace found their leader in sophomore Keionnie Ackley, who had 14 digs.
Miami Trace was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Sheridan was able to grind out a solid win over Marietta on Thursday, taking the game 3-1.
The victory didn't come easy: Marietta scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 25-18.
Miami Trace better keep an eye on Maddie Stoltz. She was instrumental in Sheridan's win, getting 11 digs and six aces. Those six aces gave Stoltz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anderson Foltz, who had 11 digs and one assist.
Miami Trace's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Sheridan, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Miami Trace has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Sheridan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Miami Trace suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Sheridan when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
