Basketball Recap: Canyon View Skates Past North Sanpete with Ease

Canyon View came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the North Sanpete Hawks, posting a 63-29 win. That looming 63-29 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

Maylee Spencer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. Bethanee Vargas was another key player, putting up nine points along with six steals and five boards.

Despite the defeat, North Sanpete saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malia Schlappi went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points.

Canyon View pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for North Sanpete, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Canyon View will challenge Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: June Olsen and Spencer. As for North Sanpete, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Juab at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
