Preview: Mater Dei Knights vs. Taylorville Tornadoes
Mater Dei is 3-0 against Taylorville since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mater Dei Knights will square off against the Taylorville Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. Mater Dei is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Mater Dei was able to grind out a solid victory over Belleville East, taking the game 54-41. The win was just what Mater Dei needed coming off of a 61-39 defeat in their prior game.
Mater Dei relied on the efforts of Maris Zurliene, who scored 14 points along with two steals, and Alyssa Koerkenmeier, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Addison Ringwald, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Taylorville entered their tilt with Teutopolis with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Taylorville walked away with a 56-43 victory over Teutopolis on Saturday. That's two games straight that Taylorville has won by exactly 13 points.
Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Taylorville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 17-3.
Mater Dei took their win against Taylorville in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 50-26. Does Mater Dei have another victory up their sleeve, or will Taylorville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
