Baseball Game Preview: Conrad Chargers vs. Kimball Knights

For the second straight game, Conrad will face off against Kimball. The Chargers will venture away from home to challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Conrad has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Conrad is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Kimball just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 18-5.

For Kimball's part, Matthew Ramos made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Ramos has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kimball got a massive performance out of William Carrigan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The Knights are undefeated when Carrigan posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of JuanDiego Perez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Kimball kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Kimball's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Conrad, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
