Basketball Recap: Arete Prep Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Arete Prep had won two straight home games and Leilani Aragon did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Arete Prep CHARGERS walked away with a 38-25 victory over the North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators thanks in part to Aragon, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Arete Prep's points.

Another player making a difference was Livia Emery, who posted 17 points and four steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games.

Despite the loss, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy had strong showings from Sabrina Daniel, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards, and Alexandra Price, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds and six blocks. Price has become a key player for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy: the team is 6-2 when she posts at least three blocks, but 4-5 otherwise.

Arete Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Arete Prep has already played their next contest, a 45-16 loss against Lincoln Prep on the 31st. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, they will host Anthem Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
