Basketball Game Preview: Delta Eagles vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

The Delta Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Friday, Delta was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-38 to Wapahani.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They breezed by the Bearcats to the tune of 67-39. With the Cougars ahead 36-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Delta better keep an eye on Braylon Mullins. He was instrumental in Greenfield-Central's win, going 11 of 19 on his way to 30 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The contest was Mullins' 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Freeman, who went 6 for 9 en route to 17 points.

Greenfield-Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muncie Central only racked up seven assists.

Greenfield-Central pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Delta, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-4.

Delta came up short against Greenfield-Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 45-41. Can Delta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
