Basketball Recap: Owen Custer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bosque over Sandia Prep

After flying high against Socorro last Saturday, Bosque came back down to earth. The Bosque Bobcats took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sandia Prep Sundevils on Tuesday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sundevils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Custer, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave Custer a new career-high. Josiah Wilson was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Bosque's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Sandia Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bosque will welcome East Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bosque is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Sandia Prep, they will be playing at home against Grants at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
