Softball Recap: Weiser Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Weiser had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Timberlake Tigers on Thursday. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 17-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Madi Janicek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Talya Hoobery was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bennett Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Weiser's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Timberlake, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.
